Kung Fu Schools & Confucius Institute Chinese New Year Celebrations at the Fairfield Concert Halls
Jointly organised by the London Confucius Institute and Kung Fu Schools Croydon, the celebrations consisted of three hour-long shows, with performances including traditional Chinese music, dances, and martial arts displays, including a demonstration by the students from Kung Fu Schools. In attendance were the Worshipful Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Graham Bass, accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs. Jean Bass, Mr. Gavin Barwell, MP of Croydon Central, and Mr. Steve O'Connell, Assembly Member of Croydon and Sutton.

Trip to see Kung Fu Panda 2 at Vue Croydon
Fresh from our appearance on Blue Peter, we had a group trip to Vue Cinemas Croydon, with over 400 students seeing one of the best Kid's Kung Fu films for young and old Martial artists!

Sifu Alan meets the Chinese Ambassador to the UK
Si-fu Alan Paterson had a chance to meet the Chinese ambassadors Liu Xiaoming on his first official engagement on Saturday 13th March at the LSE (London School of Economics) in London since becoming the UK's new Chinese ambassador on February 28th 2010. Also in the other photo is Si-fu Alan Paterson with the head of south bank university, Si-fu Paul Hawkes and Ming, head of the Confucius institute.
Confucius Institute visits Kung Fu Schools Croydon
The Confucius Institute (based at London's South Bank University) visited on Saturday 20th February.
Kung Fu Schools were very honoured to have some very special guests, as performers from north east China gave two packed out performances in front of parents and children, with demonstrations of lion dancing, weapons and Wushu kung fu. There were also dancers from the Chinese opera and they performed the fire dance, the paper cutting dance and the tai chi fan dance.
The performers have done demonstrations in front of a hundred thousand people up and down the UK this year on behalf of the Confucius institute. They were also at Trafalgar square on Sunday 14th February to celebrate the Chinese new year, which was attended by the mayor of London Boris Johnson.
Megan Raises £1500 to Beat the Bullies
Kung Fu Schools and Kids Kung Fu Student Megan has featured in the Croydon Advertiser for the sum she raised during the sponsored board break. Here are some photos of Megan with Sifu Alan. All of the students worked really hard, and the instructors are proud of them all, but for Megans special black-belt effort she won the gold cup.

Chinese Wellbeing Week presented by The Confucius Institute, Saturday 3rd October 09
The junior students of Kung Fu Schools (Croydon) were invited to perform 3 demonstrations at The Chinese Wellbeing Week at the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square, with Head Instructor Sifu Alan Paterson. The event attended by Chinese Government VIPs was put on by the prestigious Confucius Institute, which promotes Chinese culture, wellbeing and traditional Chinese Kung Fu.
