KICK START YOUR NEW YEAR WITH A KUNG FU SCHOOLS FRANCHISE

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge in 2014? Get on board the booming children’s activity sector with a Kung Fu Schools franchise which is being backed by celebrity, singer and martial arts enthusiast Peter Andre.

No previous martial arts experience is required, just a passion for working with children, a capacity for hard work and a desire to build a successful business.

Kung Fu Schools has been successfully operating a number of full-time schools in the South East of England since 2007 training thousands of adults and children. It is now recognised as one of the leading Martial Arts Institutes in the UK and has been officially endorsed by the Chinese Government, which sends its Chinese Kung Fu instructors to the school to learn how to teach Western students.

The franchise business focuses on training and coaching classes for children aged 4 to 12 and will enable franchise owners to establish and develop their own local Kung Fu Schools. The business founders Paul Hawkes and Alan Paterson have over 32 years’ experience of teaching and coaching between them having spent many years training with the world’s leading martial arts experts. Peter Andre and his children have trained with Kung Fu Schools over the past two years and was delighted to be invited to become a partner in the business alongside Paul and Alan.

Franchise owners will receive absolutely everything they need to set up and successfully operate their own Kung Fu School. The franchise package includes comprehensive training in Kung Fu from the school’s expert team of instructors, operations manuals, equipment kit, marketing/advertising and business development support. Franchises will also have specialised software to maintain a member database, take bookings and collect fees. In addition, Peter Andre will help franchise owners by promoting the brand nationally through traditional media, social media, videos and making personal appearances at a select number of schools.

Managing director of Kung Fu Schools Paul Hawkes said: “We have built Kung Fu Schools up to be one of the UK’s leading martial arts institutes and a highly successful business. We were looking to expand the company and franchising seemed the natural route to do this. We want to share our passion for helping children improve their lives through Kung Fu and help others build a profitable, enjoyable and fulfilling business.”

He added: “There is a widely held belief that Kung Fu is about aggression and fighting. Nothing could be further from the truth. Martial arts should solely be used for self-defence; in fact we do not allow children to spar in our schools and we stress that the skills learned should not be used for fighting and not awarding points for striking another child in other forms of martial arts. Moreover, we believe children absorb valuable traits from learning Kung Fu such as improved confidence, greater self-esteem and more respect for others. We are delighted that Peter Andre has joined us in the venture both as a friend and business associate as he shares our values and passion for the martial arts.”

Kung Fu Schools franchise in Sutton, Keith Monk states “I started with no students and canvassed the area for two weeks before I launched. Soon the sizes of the classes began to grow, mainly through word of mouth. From those early beginnings with a few students I now have a team of people who I train and develop and I have attracted nearly 300 students in under four years attracting six figure revenues.

The support from Kung Fu Schools has been amazing. They are constantly providing training, advice and marketing help. The news that Peter Andre has recently joined the business as a partner can only raise the profile even further.”

The franchise fee is from £10,995 plus VAT and working capital will be required to grow and develop the business.

Kung Fu Schools is a member of the British Franchise Association.

Building muscles, minds and character

Star attracted to school’s mind, body, spirit work-out

(As reported in the Croydon Advertiser by Rachel Millard, Friday 18th 2012)

NOT every school can claim to have taught both Peter Andre and Members of Parliament a thing or two—but then this is no ordinary school.

Kung Fu Schools, in South Croydon, teaches martial arts to hundreds of students each week—from age four upwards—and even offers Mandarin classes on the side.

It is the only martial arts group outside of China to be formally recognized for its work by the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a cultural group aligned with the Chinese government.

Pop star Peter Andre is one of the school’s private students, attracted to the “full mind, body and spiri work-out” Kung Fu provides, according to Sifu Alan Paterson.

“It is fantastic for self-defence and you feel mentally, as well as physically, charged, said Mr Paterson, head of Kung Fu Schools.

Bruce Lee

The school specializes in Wing Chun Kung Fu, a close-combat martial art that emerged in the 1600s and was popularised in modern times by legendary practitioner Bruce Lee.

While martial arts may conjure up images of flooring foes and demolishing bricks with bare hands, Mr Paterson says they strengthen mind as well as muscles.

“One of the key things is being able to know your capabilities and read what is going on in the other person’s head,” he said.

“Martial arts are not just about being able to beat someone up.”

The school’s children’s classes stress “character development and nurturing a well-rounded individual, he added, teaching the “ABCs of life”: attitude, behavior and character.

So how hard is it to become a revered black belt?

“It is an interesting question,” says Mr Paterson. “How long is a piece of string?”

“If you take a man or woman who can dance it will be easier; a big guy who has spent years without training may find it more difficult.”

Kung Fu Schools Celebrate 5th Anniversary of Confucius Institute with Political Dignitaries

Croydon, 18th April 2012 –Sifu Alan Paterson, Head Instructor of Kung Fu Schools Croydon, was invited to attend celebrations for the 5th anniversary of the Confucius Institute at London South Bank University today.

The Confucius Institute at London South Bank University, awarded “Excellent Confucius Institute” by the Hanban (the Office of Chinese Language Council International, promoting Chinese language and culture around the world) for the last three years, is one of the world’s most active, and has developed strong partnerships with the University, local schools and the wider community.

The anniversary event, held at London South Bank University’s Keyworth Building, hosted organisations involved in the field of Chinese language, education, and industry.

Sifu Alan was honoured to meet numerous dignitaries at the event, including Mr. Li Changchun of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, the no. 4 of the Chinese government, and Mr. Xu Lin, Director General of the Hanban.

Mr. Li offered the British Government 100 Chinese teachers to help teach Mandarin in British schools, 1,000 books for the Confucius Institute library at London South Bank University, and congratulated Kung Fu Schools on their successes in promoting Chinese culture through their organisation of martial arts demonstrations, Chinese Mandarin classes for children, and more.

Kung Fu Schools has been working closely with the Confucius Institute to promote health and wellbeing through the dissemination of Chinese culture, including participation in public martial arts demonstrations for Chinese New Year.

Designated a “Confucius Classroom” for their contributions to the promotion of the Chinese arts, the school is the only martial arts organization outside of China to be awarded this honour.

Master Paul Hawkes and Sifu Alan Paterson had the pleasure of spending an evening with James Malinchak of Secret Millionaire US fame, an inspirational and motivational figure. (Also included: The US Capitol Building on a frosty evening in January.)

The martial artist's attitude of perseverance and tanacity came through in many students who still attended their Kid and Adult classes to improve their Wing Chun Kung Fu last week. Remember that a black belt is a white belt that never gave up!

Kids Kung Fu sponsored board break - Update ... over £5500 raised!

We would like to thank all the students that used their martial arts skills for the sponsored board breaking, helping the national anti-bulling charity, Kidscape, which helps people and schools grasp a better understanding of bullying. We would like to embrace that Kidscape recognises the positivity behind martial arts in which we promote. We also attended a number of Christmas School Fayres over December, in and around the local area. We held free Kung Fu lessons and helped with the schools with lots of fun and games.
