Kung Fu Schools Croydon is a Confucius Classroom
Kung Fu Schools is the only sole Martial Arts school in the world to be Classroom recognised by the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine at London South Bank University.
Through the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine at the London South Bank University we are able to provide FREE Mandarin lessons and Chinese cultural education for all of our student members.
We understand the importance of our students understanding of the Chinese language and culture and our ethos is that this should be available to all of our child student members (Little Dragons 4 years to 7 years, Juniors 7 years to 13 years) and we are looking to opening up this opportunity to our adult students.
The ability to speak Mandarin is an amazing asset that can set our students apart, it will widen the range of opportunities available not only in further education but in career choice throughout their lives. Last year our students successfully took the YCT (Youth Chinese Test) building on the number of students who passed the YCT the previous year, this is an amazing achievement as we are fundamentally a Wing Chun Kung Fu School.
The understanding of different cultures is also hugely important to us and we continue to work in partnership with the Chinese Confucius Institute TCM with seminars, Chinese New Year Celebrations, sharing of teaching skills with the teachers/instructor learning how we teach our Martial Arts to children, and most recently being the guard of honour welcoming the Vice Premier of the Peoples Republic of China, Madame Liu Yandong, to the opening of the Model Confucius Institute at the London South Bank University.
It was an honour for Sifu Alan Paterson to be invited to the grand opening of the model Confucius Institute dedicated to traditional Chinese Medicine, the first and only in the world, at the London South Bank University with Master Paul Hawkes and students of Kung Fu Schools Croydon. the student acted as a guard of honour and Vice Premier Madame Liu Yangong and the other VIP guests upon arrival standing either side of the red carpet waiving both the Wǔ Xīng Hóng Qí("Five-star Red Flag") and the Union Jack. Students and Instructors were then welcomed in for the speeches and performances buy not only the Vice Premier but also Professor Dave Phoenix (Vice Chancellor of London South Bank University), Mark Hendrick MP (Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary China Group).

Each year this is attended by the Mayor or Vice Mayor of Croydon, dignitaries from the Confucius Institute for TCM, Hanban, Chinese Government and the China Central Television (CCTV).
