Kung Fu Schools - Michael Palin Centre and Action for Stammering Children - 2018 Sponsored Board Break 29th October until 4th November
for Stammering Children (ASC) is a UK charity which aims for a society where
children and young people who stammer have the same opportunities and quality
of life as their peers. Our goal is to ensure that as many of the 150,000 children
and young people across the UK who stammer have access to effective services
and support to help them meet the challenges they face.
Based in The Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children, the charity is a strong supporter, commissioning services that are not funded by the NHS. This includes specialist assessments and therapies for children and young people that stammer, a designated helpline, appropriate research, and the training of speech and language therapists across the country.
Why did we choose this charity?
Michael Derrig-Adams has been with Kung Fu School since he was 7 years old and now he is nearly 21.
He attended the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children for help with his stammer, with his time with at the Michael Palin Centre, they were able to help him with his speech and gain a new found confidence in not letting his stammer hold him back. Michael has created a fantastic powerful and emotional documentary about his stammer ‘My Stammer is Me’ to bring awareness to people who stammer.
This has inspired us to help this small amazing charity who gives a voice back to young people in the U.K.
Peter Andre Foundation supporting Cancer Research UK 2016 - £22'000
Following the sponsored board break held at the end of September and beginning of October 2016 we can proudly say that the students of Kung Fu Schools as a group raised an amazing £22'000.00 for the Peter Andre Foundation supporting Cancer Research UK, this was a third of the total that the charity has raised this year. Peter Andre is so grateful for all of the effort our students have put in and to everyone for their donations.
Over the past 3 years this has taken our grand total raise for the Peter Andre Foundation supporting Cancer Research UK to an outstanding £67'000.00!
The reason we chose the board break is because it is such confidence booster for the students, you can really see how pleased they are with the achievement in their faces when the break through the board with their Kung Fu moves!

Student trained their martial arts hard and used their Kung Fu skills by board breaking and chain punching their way to this absolutely amazing total, which accounted for a quarter of the grand total the foundation raised. Peter Andre and Cancer Research UK came to Kung Fu Schools Croydon to thank the students for all their hard work.
Our Black Belt fundraisers were awarded a special trophy for their amazing efforts and also demonstrated their Kung Fu to Peter Andre!
We helped fight cancer with Wing Chun Kung Fu!
Demelza Hospice Care for Children - £8’500
Kung Fu Schools Croydon were honoured when Demelza approached us to help them raise money. Children’s hospices support children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood, and offer support to their families. From hearing about Demelza, Kung Fu Schools and their students thought this was a very worthy cause and worked extremely hard to raise the fantastic total of just over £8’500 and also to raise awareness of their good work through their martial art. The students of Kung Fu Schools showed fantastic Black Belt Excellence not only in training their Wing Chun Kung Fu for the event but also for their fundraising, we are extremely proud of our students.
